MIDDLETOWN, CT. - Unable to recover from a late second-half goal, the Wesleyan men's soccer team suffered a NESCAC loss to Bates College on Saturday afternoon, 1-0, from Smith Field as they fall to 4-2-1 on the season.
The Cardinals (4-2-1 overall, 1-2-0 NESCAC) controlled much of the early game, recording seven shots and six corner kicks in the opening half. Despite efforts, Bobcats' (3-2-1 overall, 1-1-1 NESCAC) goalkeeper Isaac Kolaczkowski kept the game scoreless heading into the half.
Continuing pressure after the break, the Bobcats' defense held the Cardinals to three shots. With the match still scoreless late in regulation, the Bobcats broke the scoring in the 84th minute with a high shot on
Sam Adiutori '28.
Adiutori for his efforts held the Bobcats scoreless for much of regulation, making six saves on 10 total shots. Kolaczkowski finished with two saves on 10 Cardinal shots.
The Cardinals return Tuesday, Sept. 29, for a 7 p.m. start against WestConn at home.
