Game Notes:
Freshman tailback Brian Fabrizio rushed 29 times for 96 yards and one TD and caught eight passes for 127 yards and one TD to pace Trinity to a 26-12 victory over Wesleyan in the season finale for both teams.. Both teams finished 5-3 on the season.
Though Wesleyan scored first on a 10-yard Jake Fay-to-Matt Perceval pass on the first play of the second quarter, Trinity scored the next 23 points to hold a 23-6 edge with 8:53 to go in the third quarter. Still, the TD reception by Perceval was the 36th of his career, a Wesleyan and NESCAC record, and his 13th this season. When Fay completed a 37-yarder to George Thompson to make it 23-12 with 3:54 remaining in the third period, it was the 53rd TD toss of his career, also a Wesleyan team and NESCAC record. For the day, Fay completed 21 of 51 passes for 268 yards. Perceval, who finihsed his career with a Wesleyan team and NESCAC record 2,869 yards on 166 catches, had 10 catches for 98 yards while Thompson made nine receptions for 142 yards.
Trinity QB Gregg Wysocki completed 17 of 27 passes for 275 yards and two TDs. Kicker Skip Sullivan of Trinity connected on two field goals, including a 48-yarder which hit off the crossbar, tying a team record for longest field goal.
Fay ended his four years with 439 completions in 881 attempts for a Wesleyan team and NESCAC record 6,657 yards.
Wesleyan, which rushed for over 200 yards against the league's top defense from Williams a week ago during a 33-28 win, was held to minus-11 yards total on the ground as Trinity produced seven sacks, accounting for 48 yards lost. The starting Wesleyan backfield of Larry Woolard and Ron Jacobs combined for just 15 carries and 32 yards.
