Charlie Congleton '07 joined the men's lacrosse staff for the 2013 season as assistant coach, working with the offense, while also serving as an intern in the athletic department at Wesleyan during 2012-13. He continues in that capacity for a fourth year and recently earned his Master's degree in Liberal Studies at the college as well.
A 2007 graduate of Wesleyan University, Congleton was a three-year starting goaltender, helping the team to a NCAA quarterfinal appearance in 2005 and consecutive NCAA tournament Final Four appearances his junior and senior years. In 2006, he led the country in save percentage, and he was named to the USILA All-American teams in 2006 and 2007. His senior year, Congleton received Wesleyan's Carl R. Ahrens memorial award as the top contributor to men's athletics at the college.
After graduating from Wesleyan, he gained experience as a college coach as a volunteer assistant at Harvard, working primarily with the goalies. In addition, he worked as the club manager for Revolution Lacrosse, a girl's lacrosse club in the Boston area. Following his time in Boston, Congleton moved on to Eaglebrook School in Deerfield, Mass., where he taught math, helped run a dormitory, and coached football, hockey, and lacrosse for three years.
