Tom Turvil Headshot 2021

Tom Turvil

  • Title
    Goalkeeper Coach

Tom Turvil enters his fifth season as goalkeeper coach in 2023, having previously served as the women's assistant coach at The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) in West Hartford, Conn. from 2016-18. During his time with the Blue Jays, he helped guide the team to back-to-back quarterfinal appearances in the conference tournament.

Upon his arrival in 2019, Turvil helped lead Wesleyan to one of the program's best seasons in recent memory in 2019 as the Cardinals achieved their best regular-season performance since 2011 with a 9-4-2 overall record and a 4-4-2 conference mark. Wesleyan set a new program record for longest unbeaten streak in a season with eight (6-0-2). Wesleyan then reeled off its best season in program history in 2021, sporting a record of 18-2-2 (8-1-1 NESCAC) and earning a trip to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in team history, where they advanced to the Final Four. In that 2021 season, Wesleyan's 0.49 goals-against average set a new team record, as did the Cardinal goalkeepers' combined .876 save percentage.

Previous to his time at USJ, Turvil coached at the Connecticut Football Club (CFC) in Middletown and worked at Star Goal Keeper Academy owned by world-renowned goalkeeper Dan Gaspar. Before moving to the United States from the United Kingdom, Turvil was the boy's varsity coach at an international school in London where he guided the team to two European Championship titles. He currently holds both a USSF D Level License and an English Football Association License (Levels 1 and 2.)
