John DeWitt

John DeWitt enters his first season as an assistant coach for the men's and women's squash programs at Wesleyan in 2024-25.

DeWitt is no stranger to the NESCAC, having graduated from Hamilton College in 2009 with a degree in economics. At Hamilton, DeWitt was the #1 player, a team captain, a first team All-NESCAC selection in 2008-2009, and holds the record for most individual wins in the history of Hamilton's men's squash program at 47.

Prior to arriving at Wesleyan, DeWitt served as the Assistant Men's and Women's Squash Coach at Connecticut College for the 2023-2024 season.  Before that DeWitt spent the bulk of his career at Squash Haven, an academic, squash, and college placement program in New Haven, CT where he was the Director of Squash and Operations from 2009-2023.  While at Squash Haven, he introduced over 500 kids to the game of squash, of which over 50 have competed in college squash including 6 collegiate #1 players and 3 high school All-Americans.  DeWitt is excited to add his skills in coaching and relationship building, which he honed over his long tenure at Squash Haven, to the program here at Wesleyan.

Outside of squash, DeWitt lives with his wife and two young kids in nearby Madison, CT.  In his spare time he is an avid soccer player, still playing on a local amateur team as well as coaching the freshman boys soccer team at Daniel Hand High School.
