Kara Lamborn was added to the Wesleyan athletic training staff as an assistant trainer in August 2023. No stranger to the NESCAC, Lamborn spent the previous 12 seasons (2011-23) as an assistant athletic trainer for Hamilton.
Lamborn provided primary coverage for football, women's ice hockey, tennis, swimming & diving, and baseball from 2014-23 at Hamilton while she also assisted with women's lacrosse, field hockey, and volleyball at times in her career with the Continentals.
Her administrative responsibilities at Hamilton included coordinating weekly physician clinics, inventory and ordering, scheduling of diagnostic tets, filing, organization and scheduling of student workers, and other duties assigned by the head athletic trainer. She created and developed the existing Hamilton Sports Medicine Policies and Procedures Manual, including an advanced Emergency Action Plan. As a CPR/AED and First Aid Instructor, she administered certification classes for full-time coaches, lifeguards, athletic training staff, and athletic training student assistants.
A member of the athletics transgender subcommittee at Hamilton, as part of this committee, Lamborn was chosen to attend the Philadelphia Trans Health Conference in June 2015 to learn and gain information on bettering Hamilton's inclusion within athletics.
Prior to Hamilton, Lamborn was an intern athletic trainer for The Ohio State University in the 2010-11 season. She provided primary coverage for men's and women's swimming & diving and the national champion synchronized swimming teams. She was a clinical instructor for junior and sophomore level athletic training students and managed the athletic training room independently.
Her first professional experience came as an athletic training assistant for Lehigh University in 2009-10 where she provided primary coverage for cross country, junior varsity football, women's volleyball, indoor track and field, and outdoor track and field.
She is a member of the College Athletic Trainers' Society (2017-present) and National Athletic Trainers' Association (2008-present). She holds certifications from the NATABOC, New York state, and Connecticut while she is also an instructor for CPR/AED, First Aid for the professional rescuer.
Kara graduated from Springfield College in 2009 with a bachelor of science in athletic training. She earned her master of science in athletic training from East Stroudsburg University in 2010.
