WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – Danielle Gervacio '17 scored a game-high 17 points, but a pair of free throws by Amanni Fernandez with just :03 remaining on the clock gave Williams College the win as the Wesleyan University women's basketball team fell on the road Friday night, 65-63.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Cardinals led for most of the second half, and outscored the Ephs 29-14 in the third quarter. They held a 63-60 lead with 2:32 to play, but were unable to hold on for the win.
- Gervacio went 5-of-9 from three-point range to finish with 17 points. Maeve Vitale '18 joined her in double-figures with 11 as she went 3-of-6 from downtown, and Brenna Diggins '17 grabbed a team-high six rebounds to go along with nine points. Vitale also registered five assists and three steals to lead the Cardinals.
- Five different players scored in double-figures for Williams. Fernandez led the way with 14, while Katie Litman and Kristin Fechtelkotter scored 13 each, and Lauren McCall and Devon Caveney dropped 10 and 11, respectively. Litman finished with a double-double as she pulled in a game-high 11 rebounds, and Fernandez dished out a game-high seven assists.
FIRST HALF HIGHLIGHTS
- Wesleyan went on an 11-4 run in less than two minutes of action early in the first quarter.
- After a three-pointer by Vitale gave the visitor's at 14-10 lead, Williams closed out the opening stanza with an 8-0 run capped off by a lay-up from Fechtelkotter.
- Tara Berger '19 snapped the stretch at the 9:11 mark of the second with a basket and a three-pointer by Gervacio minutes later gave the Cardinals a 21-20 lead.
- However, a lay-up by Litman put the Ephs back up as they held an advantage the remainder of the half en route 32-27 lead at the break.
SECOND HALF HIGHLIGHTS
- Williams quickly extended its lead to 10 points with a 5-0 run to start the second half.
- Trailing 37-27, back-to-back three-pointers by Gervacio and Vitale helped spark an incredible 28-8 Wesleyan run.
- Kadijah Mathews '18 capped off the impressive stretch with a lay-up at the :49 mark to give the Cardinals a 55-45 lead.
- Entering the fourth quarter with a 10-point advantage, Wesleyan remained on top until there was just :26 remaining in regulation as Williams slowly cut into the deficit.
- Fechtelkotter went 1-of-2 from the line to even the score at 63-63 before a Wesleyan turnover in the closing seconds gave the ball back to Williams as Fernandez sealed the victory.
