Men's Soccer Continues to Roll, Beating Fitchburg State 4-0
MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – Wesleyan shook off a slow start, scoring three second half goals to take care of Fitchburg State under the lights at Smith Field. The Cardinals extend their unbeaten streak to seven games, as the Falcons have now dropped their last 11. Wesleyan now sits at an overall record of 6-2-2, while Fitchburg State moves to 0-11 on the season.
HIGHLIGHTS:
- Wesleyan was able to capitalize right before half, scoring in the 42nd minute. The goal came by virtue of a sub to sub connection, as Joseph Ansel-Mullen '25 connected with Kyle Burbage '25 breaking the tie
- The flood gates began to open early in the second half, as Matthew Rubinstein '24 added to the lead off a pretty assist by Lucas Ruehlemann '25
- After a scoring attempt was called back for being offside, it was Zach Wheeler's '25 turn to put one in the back of the net. He ripped a shot from inside box, after the ball had bounced off a few players and into his shooting pocket
- Tegh Singh '25 came on late to put the finishing touches on a Cardinal's victory. Wheeler was involved again, setting his fellow First-year up for his first goal of his career
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Wesleyan unloaded on a season high 36 shots in Tuesday night's contest, outshooting Fitchburg State 36-1.
- The Cardinals have now scored in all 10 games that they have played in this season
- In all of Wesleyan's six wins they have not allowed the opponent to score
- Wesleyan had three of their four goals scored by First-year substitutes

Wesleyan (6-2-2) will be back at it Saturday afternoon as they face the Bates Bobcats (6-5) on the road. The Bobcats will come in losers of two straight, while the Cardinals will be riding a seven game undefeated streak.
