MIDDLETOWN, CT- The men's swimming and diving team lost a home meet against No. 18 Amherst Monday afternoon by a score of 163-123. This loss will move the Cardinals to 1-2 early in the season, while Amherst will improve to 2-0.
Three Cardinals took first place in four different events, with
Eric Tran '23 picking up a win in the 400 IM with a time of 4:14:09 that was four seconds faster than 2
nd place.
Harrison Hong '25 placed first in the 100 Fly (52:57) and the 100 Back (52.43).
Jake Rybczyk '24 placed 1st for the second straight meet in the 3-meter dive with a score of 199.57.
HIGHLIGHTS:
- Harrison Hong posted the fastest 50 back leg in the 200 Medley Relay with a time of 24.53. His times in both backstroke events are already closing in on Wesleyan school records
- Richard Ettinger '23 came in 2nd in the 400 IM coming in at 4:19:47, trailing only his teammate Eric Tran
- After picking up a victory in his first collegiate meet in the 1000 free, Mason Polaner '24 followed it up with 2nd place finish in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:50:09
- Wesleyan's 400-yard free relay team finished 3rd with a team time of 3:17.91. They were led by Eric Tran who swam a time of 49.26
UP NEXT:
Wesleyan will take over a week off before their next meet. On December 4
th they will compete in the CT Cup which will be held in the Wesleyan Natatorium.
