WATERVILLE, Me. – The Wesleyan women's ice hockey team suffered a 3-0 setback at No. 10 nationally-ranked Colby on Tuesday night. Wesleyan (6-7, 2-6 NESCAC) has lost seven straight after a record-breaking 6-0 start while the Mules (9-3, 5-3 NESCAC) get back in the win column after two straight losses to top-ranked Middlebury over the weekend.
HIGHLIGHTS:
- Colby started the game strong with a power play goal at 4:01 from Meg Rittenhouse, assisted by Bri Michaud-Nolan and Lexi Cafiero
- The second period remained scoreless for over 15 minutes. Wesleyan had a power play opportunity but came up empty. At 16:19 in the period, Colby took full advantage as McKinley Karpa scored two goals in a span of 2:20 to make it 3-0 heading into the third.
- Colby held constant pressure in the third period but were unable to add another as Rei Halloran '23 finished the night with 27 saves.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Halloran made 15 of her 27 saves in the first period alone
- Nina Prunster finished with a 20-save shutout for the Mules
- This marked just the second time in 13 games this season that Wesleyan has been held scoreless
- Colby moved up two places in the NESCAC standings with the win

Wesleyan will face off against Little 3 rival Amherst for two games at home beginning at 7 PM on Friday night. Both teams are fighting to remain in the playoff picture as the Cardinals have seven points through eight NESCAC games while the Mammoths have six points in seven league contests heading into Friday.
