BELCHERTOWN, Mass. – The Wesleyan women's golf team placed seventh out of eight teams at the NESCAC Fall Qualifier held at the Cold Spring Country Club.
Chanel Hong '26 had a great showing in the first day of the tournament, carding a 78 on Saturday which carried her to the fourth and final individual qualifying spot for the NESCAC Championship in late April.
Williams took the top spot in the event, shaving 11 strokes off their round 1 total to earn the victory over runner-up Amherst by five strokes. Middlebury finished third.
Hong posted a first round 78, tied for the seventh-lowest round in the entire field, which carried her to a 168 total (78-90) which was good enough for 24
th place overall. Hong becomes just the second Cardinal in program history to qualify for the NESCAC Championship, joining
Milan Yorke '25, who made history last season.
Yorke nearly earned that final spot, finishing just one stroke shy as she carded an 86-83 (169) over the two-day tournament to finish in a tie for 25
th place overall. Yorke was three stroked better with her second round 83 following a first round 86.
Kayla Howell '26 was third-best on the weekend for the Cardinals as she shot 173 (85-88).
Danielle Landis '25 improved eight strokes on round 2, shooting 86 compared to a first round 94 to finish with a 180-stroke total. Rounding out the lineup was
Maggie Monaghan '24 who finished with a 183 (94-89).
Wesleyan finishes up the fall season with the NEIGA Championship next weekend in Brewster, Massachusetts at the Captains Courses.
