MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – The Wesleyan men's swimming & diving team hosted Amherst in a dual meet on Monday night from the Webster Family Natatorium. The Cardinals (0-3) dropped a 175.5-103.5 decision to the Mammoths (2-0).
Harrison Hong '25 captured first place in the 100 fly with a strong showing as the sophomore landed in the top spot with a time of 51.12, defeating Henry LeCates of Amherst by 0.69 seconds. Hong nearly added another first place to his night of work but he was edged out by Andrew Yuen by 0.08 seconds in the 100 back. Hong was runner-up in the event with a time of 52.83 seconds compared to 52.75 for Yuen.
Mason Polaner '24 grabbed a pair of runner-up finishes in the 200 free and 500 free. He opened the night with a time of 1:45.40 in the 200 free, placing second overall in a field of 10. Polaner later came back and pulled through with a time of 4:48.38 in the 500 free to take second place.
Sebastian Adames '25 clocked in at 25.35 seconds in the 50 back which was good enough for a third place result.
Jake Rybczyk '24 was the lone competitor in the 3-meter dive, finishing with a score of 173.25. He also took part in the 1-meter, finishing with a 179.10 score.
Eric Tran '23 raced to a tie for third place in the 50 fly, clocking in at 4.04 seconds.
Richard Ettinger '23 led a contingent of Cardinals with a time of 55.72 seconds in the 100 IM. Wesleyan's top 400 relay team of Hong, Polaner, Tran, and Ettinger clocked in at 3:16.38.
Wesleyan has some time off before hosting the CT Cup on December 3-4 from the Webster Family Natatorium.
