MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – The Wesleyan women's track and field team opened their 2022-23 season on Friday night with a home tri-meet against the University of New Haven and Connecticut College from the Bacon Field House.
Wesleyan took first place in three events including
Stephanie Ager '26 crossing the line in 10:28.96 in the 3000m, taking first place in a field of eight competitors.
Fiona Carroll '25 and
Erika Kluge '23 both posted 3.00m in the pole vault to tie for first, while the Cardinals' 4x400m relay team of
Sophia Mack '26,
Gabby Harris '23,
Augusta Burhans '23, and
Rachel Masterson '26 won by more than seven seconds in the event with a time of 4:17.21.
Among the other strong performances across the array of events saw
Rex Beaver '26 take third place in the 60m dash as the first-year posted a time of 8.38 seconds.
Imagen Walters '26 led a Cardinal contingent in the 200m with a time of 28.10 seconds, which was good enough for third-place out of 14.
Cornelia Carragher '25 as the top Cardinal in the one mile run, posting a runner-up showing with a time of 5:32.52. Joining Ager with a solid showing in the 3000m included
Jordan Walter '25 (10:40.56; 2
nd) and
Sara Greene '23 (11:49.48; 3
rd).
Wesleyan is back in action over a month from now with the Little Three Championship slated for Saturday, January 14 starting at Noon from the Bacon Field House.
