Men's Track & Field Earn Three First Place Finishes at the Wesleyan J. Elmer Swanson Spring Classic

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. - The Wesleyan men's track & field team posted a series of first place and top five finishes to kickoff the outdoor season on Saturday at home in the J. Elmer Swanson Spring Classic. Wesleyan's top 4x100m relay group (Connell Oberman '22, Christian Denny '22, Harry Kim '25 and Kyle Roshankish '24) boasted a first place finish with a time of 43.59 seconds. 
 
George Lepska '25 continued to produce great results to begin the outdoor campaign, as he posted another impressive first place finish in the 1500m, clocking in at 4.02.89. 
 
Yet another first place finish for Wesleyan saw Noah Olsen '22 accomplishing the top spot in high jump, with a mark of 1.85m. Olsen also placed third out of 19 competitors with a top mark of 6.52m the long jump.
 
Wesleyan saw a pair earn Top 5 results in the 800m as Alex Geula '25 placed second with a time of 2:04.24 while Luke Consolati '25 followed closely behind finishing in third crossing the finish line at 2:05.06. 
 
The Cardinals were well represented in the 3000m as Aiden Ward '24 was fastest among Wesleyan's contingent,  sealing a second place finish with a time of 8.54.96. His teammate Jasper Shapiro '23 also showed incredibly well in the 3000m, finishing with a time of 9.00.85 gaining the fourth place spot. 
 
Several Wesleyan throwers were able to earn top spots among the competition. Oberman accomplished a third place finish in discus, throwing 33.83m and he again was able to gain a top 5 finish in hammer throw, boasting a seventh place finish out of 19 competitors throwing 37.06m. In the shot put, Javier Orellana '25 was able to achieve a fourth place finish with a throw of 12.74m. 
 
Other Wesleyan competitors that were able to secure solid finishes included Mason Martell '24 (third in the 110m hurdles at 15.15 seconds), Roshankish (3rd in the 200m dash at 23.02 seconds) and Emmett Perry '25 (4th in the 400, dash at 52.14 seconds). 
 
Looking forward, Wesleyan will travel to Medford, Massachusetts to take part in the Tufts Snowflake Classic. The meet will take place Saturday April  2nd
