MEDFORD, Mass. - The Wesleyan men's track and field team showed incredibly well at Tufts Snowflake Classic, as the Cardinals were able to seal 12 top 5 finishes in an array of events to capture third place out of 16 teams in competition.
Wesleyan's top 4x100m relay group (
Connell Oberman '22,
Christian Denny '22,
Harry Kim '25 and
Kyle Roshankish '24) boasted a second place finish with a time of 44.06 seconds.
Sam Musto '24 posted an impressive runner-up finish amongst 45 competitors in the 400m, clocking in at 49.71 seconds.
Another great performance saw
Andre Collins '25 finish second in javelin with a throw of 48.88m.
Denny continued to lead the Cardinals, as he was able to achieve third place out of 48 competitors in the 100m race, with a time of 11.14 seconds. He was also able to gain a fourth place finish in the 200m, crossing the finish line with a time of 22.58 seconds. His teammate Roshankish followed closely behind in the 200m with a time of 22.74 seconds, good enough to get him sixth place.
Yet another Top 5 finish saw
Noah Olsen '22 place third in long jump, with a mark of 6.42m.
George Lepska '25 posted a time of 1:58.36 in the 800m, as he was able to clinch a fifth place finish out of 61 runners. Oberman also sealed a top five result, placing fifth in discus with a throw of 38.61m.
Within both the 110m hurdles and 400m hurdles, two Cardinals,
Mason Martell '24 and
Nigel Hayes '23, accomplished fifth and sixth place, respectively. Martell finished with a time of 16.03 seconds, while
Nigel Hayes secured a time of 1:04.01.
Wesleyan saw a pair earn top 5 results in the high jump as Olsen placed fourth with a jump of 1.85m, as
Andrew Dearborn '22 earned fifth place, just behind his teammate with a mark of 1.85 as well.
The Cardinals were well represented in the 5000m as
Will Ratner '22 was fastest among Wesleyan's contingent, sealing a fourth place finish, clocking in at 15:29.74. Owens Rogers '24 followed not too far behind, finishing with a time of 15:49.87 executing a 10th place finish.
Other Wesleyan competitors that were able to secure solid finishes included
Nate Fogarty '25 (9
th in the 1500m at 4:11.55 seconds) and Oberman (9
th in hammer throw at 38.85m).
Looking ahead, Wesleyan will travel to Amherst, Massachusetts to take part in the Amherst Spring Fling meet that will take place Saturday April 9
th.
