MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – Two-sport star
Grace Devanny '23 caps an incredible 2021-22 campaign with her most-recent honor, as she was just named an Academic First Team All-American by CoSIDA, as announced by the organization on June 21. The teams are selected by CoSIDA members and recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. All of the All-America selections advanced to the ballot after earning Academic All-District honors.
After earning two Academic All-District honors in the 2021-22 season (one each for soccer and track & field), Devanny see her name on the Academic All-American list for the first time in her career. She just wrapped up the spring semester of her junior year and sports a 3.97 cumulative GPA as a double major in neuroscience & behavior and psychology.
An four-time All-American both in soccer (first team as a forward) and on the track (200m indoor and outdoor, 400m outdoor), Devanny completed what could arguably be one of the best all-around campaigns for any Cardinal student-athlete (male or female) in Wesleyan's history. On on the track, Devanny earned All-American honors during the indoor season with a 7
th place finish in the 200m back in March while she was 9
th in the 400m. She then followed with a strong outdoor championship showing where she finished as the national runner-up in the 400m while placing 8
th in the 200m in Ohio.
The 2021 NESCAC Player of the Year and First An All-American helped lead the women's soccer team to the Final 4 in the program's first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance this past fall.
Devanny is the fourth Cardinal student-athlete to earn Academic All-American honors in 2021-22, joining Julia Meehan '22 (women's soccer), Courtney Collins-Pisano '22 (softball), Kristina Yu '22 (women's tennis).
