Box Score CLINTON, N.Y. – The Wesleyan women's hockey team suffered a 7-1 defeat at the hands of No. 7 nationally ranked Hamilton on Friday night. The Cardinals (9-7-1, 3-6 NESCAC) have lost five straight while the Continentals (13-3-1, 7-2 NESCAC) are 11-1-1 in their last 13 games.
Hamilton jumped out in front just 2:40 into play, with Nancy Loh registering her first of three goals on the night with assists going to Claire McGennis and Abby Kuhns. Only 2:49 later, Loh netted her second of the night as the Continentals were suddenly up 2-0.
After Maddie Hong made it 3-0 Hamilton past the midway point of the first period, Abby Weiss buried another Continental goal as it was 4-0 Hamilton just 13:37 into play.
Wesleyan managed to find the back of the net late in the first with
Caroline Kee '26 scoring her third of the season to cut the deficit down to 4-1 after one.
Brooke Keough '23 and
Caroline Mezias '25 had the assists on Kee's goal.
That Kee goal, however, would be the closest the Cardinals would get for the remainder of the game as Abby Smith scored a power play marker late in the second to restore Hamilton's four-goal advantage.
Then two more Continental goals came in the third including Loh's third of the net, securing her hat trick.
Shots favored Hamilton slightly at 26-21 with Mac Donovan making 20 saves in net while
Rei Halloran '23 made 19 for the Cardinals.
Wesleyan looks to rebound on Saturday with a rematch against the Continentals set for 3 PM.
