Women’s Track & Field Competes at New England Small College Invitational

Cardinals' DMR team posted a 1st place finish competing against NESCAC competition

BOSTON, Mass. – Several strong performances were turned in by the Wesleyan women's track & field team on Sunday competing at the prestigious Track at New Balance in Boston at Middlebury's New England Small College Invitational. Highlighting the day was a victory for the Cardinals in the distance medley relay, as the group of Jordan Walter '25, Sarah Schlosberg '25, Nadia Lim '26, and Maeve Hoffman '23 led the field of seven teams with a time of 12:21.88 that bested groups from Middlebury, Williams, Tufts, Amherst, Connecticut College, and Hamilton.
 
Continuing with the sprint group, the Cardinals saw both Augusta Burhans '23 and Gabby Harris '23 turn in Top 5 finishes in the 60m as Burhans placed third overall out of 29 with a time of 8.00 seconds while Harris crossed in 8.04 seconds which landed her in fourth place. The two came back and each landed a Top 10 result in the 200m, with Harris taking seventh place out of 56 sprinters, with a time of 26.49 seconds. Burhans, meanwhile, grabbed 10th place with a time of 26.72 seconds.
 
Kenzie Kelly '25 was the top finisher in the 400m, securing seventh place out of 48 competitors, with a time of 1:00.16. Kelly also finished in 12th place in the 200m, crossing in 26.83 seconds. Schlosberg picked up a personal-best time of 1:00.81 in the 400m, just missing the Top 10 places with an 11th place finish.
 
Wesleyan's strongest individual event was the one mile, as Hoffman and Walter placed second and third, respectively. Hoffman posted a new personal-best time in the event, finishing in 5:05.07, while Walter was right behind in third place with a time of 5:06.19. Lim also showed well in the event, placing 14th with a time of 5:22.05.
 
In the 3000m, it was Miranda Graves '23 turning in a great individual effort as the lone Cardinal in the field. Graves posted a new personal-best time of 10:24.99 which was good enough for fifth place out of 36 runners.

Stephanie Ager '26 continued a strong day for the distance contingent, finishing in eighth place with a time of 18:28.05 in the 5000m.
 
In the field portion of the competition, Rex Beaver '26 turned in a personal-best mark of 10.56m in the shot put that was good enough for sixth place out of 25 competitors.
 
Next up for the Cardinals is the Tufts Cupid Invite on Saturday, starting at 10:00 AM.
