MIDDLETOWN, CT. – Stealing the second game of a two-game series against Connecticut College, the Wesleyan women's ice hockey team secured a 3-1 win after falling the night before in overtime on Saturday afternoon from Spurrier-Snyder Arena.
Forcing two power plays in the first period, the Cardinals broke the scoring open on the second two-minute opportunity as
Isabelle Allieri '25 scored her first of the season. Allieri gained possession as the puck bounced off the wall off a pass from Aimee Seppenwolde '26 and
Dylan Green '26, tucking the puck over the pads of Camels goaltender Jillian Wexler.
At 17:07 of the second period
Brigitte Goeler-Slough '23 gave the Cardinals the two-goal lead after
Christina Tournas '25 and
Sam DeLeo '25 picked the puck possession on at the blue line. Bringing the puck into the Cardinals attacking zone, Goeler-Slough caught the cross pass for the shot from the top of the goal crease. A power play goal by the Camels' Kiley Smith ended the Cardinals' chances of a shutout late in the period.
Amelia Molin '27 tallied the final goal of the afternoon, catching a deflected puck as
Jenna Stevens '24 was knocked to the ice behind the net. Molin scored from directly out in front of the goal.
The Cardinals were 35 for 17 off the face-off,
Shannon Burke '25 went 6-0, Molin went 6-2, and
Jenna Rekoske '24 won 12 draws.
In goal for the Cardinals,
Rei Halloran '23 made 22 saves as Wexler made 17 for the Camels.
The Cardinals return to action on Saturday, Nov. 25, when they travel to Hamilton for a NESCAC matchup beginning at 4 p.m.
