Philadelphia, PA. – The Wesleyan women's squash team was defeated by the 6
th seeded Chatham Cougars in the third-place game of the CSA Team Championships Sunday morning. The Cardinals fell to the Cougars 5-4 in a hard fought battle, as they will end the season with a 8-12 record. Chatham ends their season on a high note, defeating the Cardinals to claim third place in the CSA Team Championships finishing with a 6-7 record.
The Cardinals won all of their four matches via a 3-0 sweep with victories coming from
Jaclyn Dichter '26,
Marangela James '24,
Leandra Sze '26, and
Sydney Smith '25. It was similar dominance on the Cougars side as well, with four of their five matches were completed in three rounds, with their sweeps coming from Sofia Ramos, Vasundhra Vasanthan, Valentina Della-Maddalena, and Sofia Pinto Combita.
Dichter completed her sweep 11-2, 11-3, 11-3 while James had similar rounds winning 11-3, 11-2, 11-2. Smith had the most dominate win of the day for the Cardinals at #9 11-1, 11-4, 11-0 defeating the Cougars' Giavanna Gibson. Sze was impressive in her match as well, taking down Amari Spivey 11-3, 11-1, 11-3 to close out the victories for Wesleyan on the day.
Avika Pande '26 battled it out with Basmala Sayed Ahmed, eventually falling to her 3-11, 3-11, 11-8, 8-11.
Laila Kewalramani '24 had a very competitive match despite the 3-0 final decision with losses of 6-11, 9-11, 10-12 to Combita.
Wesleyan ends the season with a record of 8-12, claiming 4
th place in the CSA Team Championships in Philadelphia. Next up is the CSA Individuals which will take place from March 3
rd to March 5
th at a location to be announced.
