PHILADELPHIA, PA. – The Wesleyan women's squash team was victorious in day one of the CSA Team Championships, defeating NESCAC opponent #20 Colby, 5-4. The Cardinals advance to day two of the competition, sporting an 8-10 record. The Mules drop to 7-12 with the defeat.
It was a full team effort to lift the Cardinals past the 20
th ranked Colby Mules on Friday, with wins coming from positions up and down the lineup.
Wesleyan had four of their five victories coming via 3-0 sweeps, with dominating performances by
Mira Bakshi '26,
Aanya Anand '26,
Leandra Sze '26, and
Sydney Smith '25.
Bakshi controlled the game at #2, defeating Clara Lehv 11-7, 11-6, 11-5, while Anand put on an impressive performance herself 11-4, 11-5, 11-2 over Celine Odegard at #3.
Sze (11-6, 11-7, 11-5) and Smith (11-5, 11-8, 11-5) were able to complete Wesleyan's third and fourth sweeps on the day over MacKenzie O'Shea and Great Drefke.
Wesleyan's most competitive win of the day came from
Jaclyn Dichter '26 at #6. The first-year athlete dropped the first round 10-12 before taking the next three rounds 11-1, 11-7, 11-2 to defeat Colby's Mehak Dey-Kohli 3-1 giving Wesleyan the win.
Wesleyan will return for day two of the CSA Team Championships tomorrow, February 18
th at 9 am where they will face off against another NESCAC opponent in #17 Middlebury.
