Sprinters Dominate for Women’s Track & Field at Tufts Cupid Challenge

Cardinals land a Top 5 finisher in the 60m, 200m, 400m, and 800m at Tufts

MEDFORD, Mass. – The Wesleyan women's track & field team landed a Top 5 finisher in the 60m, 200m, 400m, and 800m, highlighting the day for the Cardinals at the Tufts Cupid Challenge on Saturday. In the team scoring portion, Wesleyan totaled 49 points to take sixth place out of 13 teams. Wesleyan saw Augusta Burhans '23 and Gabby Harris '23 both advance to the 60m finals, with Burhans landing a second place finish (7.95 seconds) while Harris was right behind in third (7.99). Burhans was just 0.02 seconds off her personal-best time in the event while Harris was just 0.03 seconds off her career-best.
 
Grace Devanny '23 returned to the track in a big way, as the senior followed her NCAA Div. III record time in the 500m back on January 20 with a first place finish on Saturday in the 400m. Devanny completed the event in 56.77 seconds, topping a field of 24 sprinters.
 
Success continued in the sprint events as Kenzie Kelly '25 landed a fourth place finish in the 200m, clocking in at 27.07 seconds. Sophia Mack '26 turned in an excellent performance in the same event, landing a personal-best time of 27.64 seconds to place eighth.
 
Jane Hollander '23 impressed in the 800m, posting a third place finish out of 22 runners with a time of 2:25.23. Sarah Schlosberg '25 put in a personal-best time of 1:41.82 in the 600m, good enough for sixth place out of 24.
 
Nadia Lim '26 led the way for the Cardinals in the 1000m, placing 12th with a time of 3:09.67. Wesleyan's 4x400m relay team of Mack, Imagen Walters '26, Maya Nikoukari '26, and Rachel Masterson '26 combined for a fifth place showing with a time of 4:22.35. Rex Beaver '26 led the throwers with a mark of 10.41m in the shot put to take eighth place out of 41. Erika Kluge '23 and Fiona Carroll '25 both posted 3.15m to tie for sixth in the pole vault.
 
Next up for Wesleyan is a trip to the Ocean Breeze Invite on Friday, February 10.
