COVENTRY, Conn. – It was a morning full of nothing but wins for the No. 9 ranked Wesleyan women's crew team, who defeated No. 9 Trinity in all three races at Coventry Lake on Saturday morning. The Cardinals head into the New England Championships next weekend coming off consecutive strong performances.
Racing in less-than-ideal conditions with rain and strong winds, the Cardinals opened with a sub-seven-minute showing from their varsity 8 boat who clocked in at 6:59.8 to easily top Trinity's time of 7:08.7.
It was about the same margin-of-victory for Wesleyan in the 2
nd varsity 8 race, with the Cardinals clocking in at 7:18 compared to 7:27.3 for the Bantams.
Closing out the day in style, Wesleyan's 3
rd varsity 8 boat topped Trinity as the Cardinals crossed the line in 8:02.9 while Trinity finished in 8:14.7.
Wesleyan looks to improve upon last season's seventh place finish at the New England Championships, as the postseason regatta is slated for Saturday, May 6 from Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester.
