Brumbach Holds Off Middlebury in Career-High Game

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – Facing 25 shots in goal, goalkeeper Molly Brumbach '26 was the equalizer for the Wesleyan women's soccer team in a 0-0 NESCAC draw with Middlebury College as Middlebury outshot Wesleyan 25-8 on Saturday afternoon at Dragone Field.

Brumbach made a career-high 14 saves for the Cardinals (4-2-2 overall, 2-1-2 NESCAC) as the 25 shots made by the Panthers (4-2-3 overall, 1-2-2 NESCAC) was also a season-high faced by a single goalkeeper this season. Brumbach ranks first in the NESCAC in saves per game with a 5.60 average, while this afternoon's game ranks first with the most individual saves.

Leading the Cardinals' offensive effort was Audrey Lavey '23, who tallied three individual shots with one total shot on goal. Catherine Gallagher '27, Waverly Meyers '26, and Stefanie Stoj '26 all took aim to light the scoreboard with a shot on goal each.

Fanny Lodge led the Panthers with seven shots while Carolyn Kelley made four saves in goal.

The Cardinals return to action on Tuesday, Oct. 3, when they host Gordon College at 4 p.m. at Jackson Field.
