CLINTON, N.Y. – The Wesleyan men's swimming & diving team opened the calendar year with a trip to Hamilton for a quad meet on Saturday. The Cardinals dropped decisions to the host Continentals (188-83), No. 18 ranked RIT (239-55), and Ithaca (201-70).
Harrison Hong '25 earned a win in the 100 fly, topping the field by more than one second with his time of 50.79 seconds. His day continued with a sixth place showing in the 200 free at 1:49.28. Hong also helped the Cardinals to a fifth-place finish in the 200 medley relay as he combined with
Fritz Bretall '25,
Jeremy Kim '23, and
Sam Anderson '24 to clock in at 1:38.55.
Earning a runner-up finish in the 1000 free was
Mason Polaner '24 as the senior touched the wall in 10:16.45. He also went on to lead the team with an eighth-place finish in the 100 free (49.73) and seventh place in the 500 free (5:00.38).
The other top finishers on the day for the Cardinals included Kim in the 200 breast as the graduate student took sixth place at 2:17.20. He also placed eighth in the 100 breast (1:02.54).
Daniel Isman '26 placed seventh in the 200 breast (2:17.51),
Ryan Kobayashi '25 finished ninth in the 200 fly (2:05.23), and
Nicky Wang '25 was ninth in the 200 IM (2:04.92).
Wesleyan next heads to Trinity for a mid-week dual meet on Wednesday at 2 PM.
