WATERVILLE, ME. – The Wesleyan men's ice hockey team fell to Colby College on Saturday afternoon in a 5-0 NESCAC shutout from Colby's Jack Kelley Rink. Colby recorded 34 shots on goal to outpace Wesleyan in their first matchup of the season.

Jack Kane '25 finished with a team-high three shots on goal while Danny Judge '26 won nine draws off the faceoff for the Cardinals (3-9-1 overall, 2-5-1 NESCAC).

Colby's Donovan O'Neil led the Mules (4-7-2 overall, 2-5-2 NESCAC) with two goals on the afternoon. His first came four minutes after the first puck drop of the game while he opened the second period with a power play goal as the Cardinals had been called for a slashing minor.

The second period was a flurry of action from the Mules on the offensive. While O'Neil opened the period with his power play goal, the Mules would post up another three goals in the final five minutes of the period. Henry Molson was goal number three for the Mules at 4:25. John McLaney notched an unassisted short-handed goal at 1:46. And Tyler Crist secured a second power play goal with less than 30 seconds remaining in the period with the Cardinals in the box for tripping. Both teams were scoreless through the final 20 minutes of play.

The game saw 15 total penalties across both teams, primarily in the second period. The Cardinals' penalty kill units held off five of seven-man advantages for the Mules.

The Cardinals return to the ice on Friday, Jan. 19, when they host Connecticut College in NESCAC play beginning at 7 p.m.
