SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Competing in a tri-meet at Springfield College on Saturday, the Wesleyan men's swimming & diving team earned a split, defeating Roger Williams 131-125 and falling to the host Pride 150-129. Wesleyan improves to 2-6 on the season, winning two of their last three dual results.
Leading the way to the win was
Mason Polaner '24 and
Harrison Hong '25, who both picked up two wins on the day. Polaner captured wins in the 200 free and 500 free, while adding a runner-up in the 100 free. Hong took first place in the 100 fly and 200 fly.
Daniel Isman '26 also contributed with a pair of runner-up finishes in the 200 breast and 200 IM, helping lead Wesleyan to another team win.
Polaner started his day with a win in the 200 free, clocking in at 1:45.56. He followed with a runner-up in the 100 free (48.18 seconds) before capturing a win in the 500 free as he touched the wall in 4:52.73.
Hong continues to pile up the wins this year, capturing his first of two on the day in the 200 fly as he finished in 1:56.97. Hong then came up with another win, earning first place in the 100 fly with a time of 50.72 seconds.
Crucial points came from Isman with his pair of second place finishes, starting in the 200 breast as he finished in 2:12.90 and in the final event, Isman managed another runner-up as he finished the 200 IM in 2:04.99.
Hartmut Doerwaldt '25 also earned a runner-up finish, as he was second-best in the 1650 free at 18:11.78.
Jeremy Kim '23 placed third in the 100 breast (1:03.01) while
Fred Li '25 finished the 200 fly in third place with a time of 2:03.89.
The Cardinals are back in action on Saturday, January 27 with a 2 PM dual meet against Colby from the Webster Family Natatorium.
