MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – Hosting a swim meet for the first time since early December, the Wesleyan men's swim team dropped a dual meet to Colby, falling to the Mules 182-98. Wesleyan drops to 2-7 on the season while Colby improves to 5-2.
The Cardinals captured two event victories on the day as
Mason Polaner '24 placed first in the 500 free with a time of 4:50.34, besting the runner-up finisher by more than two seconds.
Harrison Hong '25 took first in the 100 fly in a photo finish, besting Neil Mortimer of Colby by the thinnest of margins, with Hong clocking in at 50.09 seconds compared to Mortimer's 50.10 seconds.
Polaner was busy throughout the day, recording a runner-up in the 1000 free at 10:17.51 while placing third in the 100 free at 48.89 seconds. The senior also combined with Hong,
Fritz Bretall '25, and
Cooper Mayo '26 to place second in the 200 medley at 1:36.03.
Other strong showings on the day for the Cardinals included a runner-up from Hong in the 200 back (2:00.55) while
Jeremy Kim '23 was third in the 100 breast (1:01.40) and
Daniel Isman '26 placed third in the 200 breast (2:14.73).
The Cardinals are back in action for Senior Day next Saturday with a dual meet against Connecticut College slated for 2 PM from the Webster Family Natatorium.
