Men’s Soccer Draws 2-2 on the Road with Bowdoin

BRUNSWICK, ME. – Taking another hard-fought matchup down to the wire, the Wesleyan men's soccer team forced a 2-2 draw with Bowdoin College on Saturday afternoon as the team was led by Chris Porte '25 and John SennMcNally '28 from Bowdoin's Pickard Field.

Despite an early Cardinals (5-3-4 overall, 2-3-3) lead, the Polar Bears (6-3-3 overall, 2-3-3 NESCAC) did not make the contest easy, putting away two sandwiched goals before the Cardinals were back on the board for a second time. Porte kickstarted the scoring with two on-goal opportunities early in the first half. With just under 14 minutes of game played, Porte was stopped by Bears goalie Alex Ainsworth on his first go of the game. Two minutes later Porte caught Ainsworth off and was able to net the first Cardinals goal of the afternoon with help from Will Martin '26.

Both teams entered the half tied up at one goal apiece, Arthur dos Santos getting credit for the Bears' first goal of the game at 25:16. The Bears took their first and only lead of the game at 61:17, netting their second goal unassisted by Tyler Huck.

SennMcNally put away the final game-tying goal of the afternoon at 74:19, earning his first-career goal as a Cardinal unassisted as the Cardinals put away any hopes of a Bears win for the remainder of the match.

Facing seven shots in goal, Mathis Blanc '26 finished with two saves for the Cardinals. Ainsworth made four saves for the Bears on the final count.

The Cardinals return to action on Wednesday, Oct. 23, when they travel to Eastern Connecticut State for a 7 p.m. kickoff.
