PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Jumping right back into winning action, the Wesleyan women's squash team dominated Brown University in an 8-1 win on Saturday afternoon, Nov. 15, while on the road to open the season from Brown's Brodsky Squash Pavilion.
Welcoming several new faces to the lineup, the Cardinals came away with seven 3-0 sweeps of their eight match victories on Saturday afternoon. Making quick work of Alex Dahlberg,
Caroline Caiati '28 pulled away with a 11-1, 11-4, 11-2 win in just 11 minutes at No. 9.
Sydney Smith '25 went 11-6, 11-5, 11-2 over Anna Hurd at No. 8 with a 12-minute match win to highlight her afternoon.
At No. 6,
Leandra Sze '26 was victorious over Maya Katzive, going 11-0, 11-4, 11-6.
Portia Pliam in the No. 7 position came away with 11-3, 11-1, 11-6 game wins against Sydney Rains.
Jaclyn Dichter '26 returned to the lineup with her usual winning mentality, going 11-2, 11-4, 11-3 on Brown's Sarah Kim. Graduate student
Rachel Matamoros entered the lineup for the Cardinals at No. 5 with a 11-4, 11-3, 11-4 record against Zoya Unni.
Aanya Anand '26 in the No. 3 spot threw down 11-7, 11-9, 11-4 wins in the longest shutout of the match for the Cardinals.
Going four sets on court one,
Mira Bakshi '26 took game one with an 11-7 final, but fell to Saisha Gupta in game two, 9-11. Pressing back, Bakshi was able to tie the match up with an 11-7 game three before closing out the match with a final game win at 11-3.
The Cardinals return to action on Sunday, Nov. 17, at 10 a.m. when they travel to Vassar College.
