MIDDLETOWN, CT. – Harrison Hong '25 won his fourth race in three days as the Wesleyan men's swimming and diving team played host to Amherst College on Monday night, falling to Amherst in a 221-58.50 final score from Wesleyan's Webster Family Natatorium.
The Cardinals opened the evening meet with a third-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay. Combining for a final time of a 1:38.84,
Fritz Bretall '25,
Cooper Mayo '26, Hong, and
David Kantar '25 pressed the Cardinals' success on the night.
At the end of the night, Hong closed the meet with a victory in the 100-yard individual medley. Swimming a final 53.25, Hong's multi-faceted approach to the pool proved fruitful once again. In the 200-yard freestyle, Hong placed second as he touched the wall at 1:47.07. Hong achieved another second-place finish in the 50-yard butterfly with a 22.95.
Placing third in the 50-yard backstroke, Bretall swam a final time of 1:47.07, adding to the Cardinals' leadership early in the meet. In the 100-yard backstroke,
Jonathan Lee '28 swam a 57.93 that placed him third in the event. Swimming a 58.85,
Nathan Wu '28 also took third in the 100-yard breaststroke as the meet began to wind down.
The Cardinals return to the pool on Friday, Dec. 6, and Saturday, Dec. 7, when they host the Jayden Szkirka Memorial Championships.
