MIDDLETOWN, CT. – The Wesleyan men's track and field team kicked off the winter portion of the season with three first-place victories while dominating the 300m race on Saturday as they played host to the Wesleyan Winter Invite from inside the Bacon Field House.
Bruce Lenes '26 won the 3000m outright, but it was a Cardinals Top 5 that crossed the finish line. Lenes placed first with a 8:51.08. Second place went to Robert D'Aquila '26 with an 8:54.63. In third,
Coleman Love '28 ran a 9:15.64.
Thomas Chun '28 placed fourth at 9:21.79.
Evan O'Rourke '26 brought up the Top 5 with a finish in fifth at 9:34.67.
The first victory of the weekend for the Cardinals went to
Daniel Manning '28. Manning cleared the win in the men's mile with a 4:39.94. He was followed by
Alex Lara in fourth place, running a 4:52.86.
The Cardinals earned another Top 5 majority in the weight throw.
Will Dollhopf '25 took first place, making the final at 15.65m. In third place,
James Giokaris '24 threw for 14:05m.
Elias Warner '28was fifth, his total distance coming in at 13.71m.
Steve Paul '28 placed second in the 60m race, clocking exactly seven seconds.
Ethan Singleton '28 was third at 7.10.
In the 800m,
Luke Consolati '25 placed second, crossing the finish line at 2:02.61.
Javier Orellana '25 threw a distance of 14.80m in the shot put, taking second place.
Placing third in the long jump,
Josh Ng '27 finished at 6.31m while
Jerry Gong '27 placed fourth with a 6.25m jump.
Daniel Bench '26 finished third in the triple jump, his final distance recorded at 12.48m.
The Cardinals return to action in the new year when they compete at the Suffolk Ice Breaker Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 11.
