Men’s Tennis Dominates Concordia in 7-2 Spring Break Victory

GEORGETOWN, TX – Picking up their first victory of Spring Break play, the Wesleyan men's tennis team fought down Concordia University Texas with a 7-2-win margin as they swept doubles play with Max Litton '26 and Harry Portnoy '24 picking up not only the No. 3 doubles victory but also individual singles wins on Friday evening.

The Cardinals kicked off the evening with a sweep of doubles play, going 3-0 against the Tornados. Litton and Portnoy as the No. 3 pairing downed Daniel Beckles and Joeri Bregman in a 8-4 finish. At No. 1 JT Bilski '26 and Ben Mitchell '24 took their match down to the wire as they came away with a 8-7 win against Joshua Bode and Adrian Munguia. The No. 2 pairing of Harry Collomb '26 and Brett Keeling '27 defeated Esteban Arredondo and Kishan Kersten, 8-4.

Both Portnoy and Litton won their singles matches as well to lead the Cardinals. Litton at No. 5 defeated Bregman in quick fashion 6-2, 6-1 and Portnoy followed in the No. 6 position, coming away with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Beckles. Mitchell in the No. 2 slot struck down Steven Scholz in a 7-5, 6-4 victory at the top of the lineup. Clearing Munguia at No. 3, Keeling finished the match with a 6-2, 6-2 margin win.

The Tornados picked up two points in singles play. Bode defeated Biski in the No. 1 spot 6-2, 6-4. And at No. 4, Kertsen forced a third set against Collomb after Collomb took the first set 7-6, but Kersten ultimately came away with set two 7-5 and set three 10-5.

The Cardinals conclude their trip to Texas on Saturday, March 16, when they face No. 14 Trinity (Texas) in San Antonio beginning at 4 p.m.
