CAMBRIDGE, MA. – Forcing a third set in the No. 1 spot, sophomore
JT Bilski '26 took his match to the edge for the eventually comeback victory along with a win in doubles as he helped lead the Wesleyan men's tennis team in a 6-3 defeat to No. 24 MIT on Friday afternoon from MIT's J.B. Carr Tennis Bubble.
The first set of Bilski's matchup at No. 1 went to MIT's Kailas Kahler, 6-2, but Bilski put up a fight in set two to claim a 7-5 set win over Kahler, forcing a tiebreaker. Kahler fell, 6-4, giving Bilski the overall match win.
Max Litton '26 claimed the second singles point for the Cardinals (2-6 overall) at No. 5. Litton took set one, 7-5, before finishing Shrish Choudhary with a final 6-4 score in set two.
The Engineers took home wins at No. 2, No. 3, No. 4, and No. 6 singles, but
Ben Mitchell '24 went three sets against Daniel Papacica in the No. 2 spot. Mitchell won set one, 6-2, but Papacica came away with the final two sets 6-2, 6-3.
Bilski and Mitchell laid claim to a doubles victory as the number one pairing for the Cardinals, downing Papacica and Grant Gallagher, 8-5. Both No. 2 and No. 3 doubles were sent to tiebreakers with the Engineers ultimately picking up both wins.
Harry Collomb '26 and
Chase Kasday '26 fell 8-7 (7-3) to Adam Sun and Kahler.
Brett Keeling '27 and Litton were defeated 8-7 (7-5) by Joseph Li and Sundeep Chakladar.
The Cardinals return to action on Saturday, March 30, when they travel to Trinity for a 10 a.m. NESCAC matchup in Hartford, CT.
