No. 3 Cardinals continue tear in 7-2 win over Bowdoin

BRUNSWICK, ME. – The Wesleyan women's tennis team continues in dominant prowess as they won their 13th straight match of the season on Saturday morning, downing Bowdoin College in a 7-2 NESCAC win as they remain undefeated in the conference with a 8-0 record.

Not much has stepped in the way of the Cardinals this season as they sit with a 13-0 record with only two matches remaining before NESCAC Tournament. They came away with two doubles wins over the Polar Bears to kickstart the match.

Having yet to lose a match as the No. 3 doubles pairing, Renna Mohsen-Breen '25 and Lane Durkin '27 defeated Hannah Buckhout and Caroline Stuhlfaut, 8-3, for the first point of the morning. Clocking the second doubles win was the No. 2 pairing of Jackie Soloveychik '27 and Leila Epstein '26 with a 8-4 victory over Cara Hung and Zoe Sun.

Back on top in the No. 1 singles position, Caitlyn Ferrante beat Hung in a 6-2, 6-2 matchup to open singles play. Downing Elizabeth Yu at No. 3, Epstein came away with a final 6-1, 6-4 match win. Soloveychik finished off Julia Ross at No. 4 with a 6-3, 6-4 final score. Durkin also made quick work of Sun with a 6-0, 6-2 victory for the Cardinals at No. 5.

The final point of the morning for the Cardinals went to Mohsen-Breen in the No. 6 singles slot as she went three sets with Stuhlfaut to claim her 13th match win of the season to match the team's record. Mohsen-Breen took set one with a 7-6 final, but it was Stuhlfaut that forced the third set with a second set win of 6-3. Set three had its own tiebreaker, with Mohsen-Breen ultimately coming away with a 1-0 set win as she went 10-8 against Stuhlfaut in the tiebreaker.

The Cardinals return to action on Sunday, April 21, when they travel to Colby for a 10 a.m. NESCAC matchup.
