Cardinals win 10th consecutive game in Bates Sweep

MIDDLETOWN, CT. – After winning their 10th consecutive match of the season, the Wesleyan women's tennis team remains undefeated as they ran down Bates College on Sunday morning from the John Wood Memorial Courts in a 9-0 NESCAC sweep that puts them atop the conference standings, 5-0.

As the Cardinals open the first 10 matches of the season, Lane Durkin '27, Jackie Soloveychik '27, and Renna Mohsen-Breen '25 respectively remain undefeated in singles play while Durkin and Mohsen are a perfect showing as the No. 3 doubles pairing.

Caitlyn Ferrante '24 and Sarah Youngberg '26 kickstarted the morning with a doubles win as the No. 1 pairing, defeating Ally Friedman and Iris Westmoreland, 8-1. Leila Epstein '26 and Soloveychik took all eight points from Julia Anderson and Isabella Saul in a 8-0 match win. The final doubles victory of the morning went to Durkin and Mohsen-Breen as they beat Ava Lyon and Ava Steinberger, 8-0.

Mohsen-Breen came away with the first singles win of the match at No. 6, downing Lyon in a 6-0, 6-1 defeat. At No. 3, Epstein made quick work of Westmoreland with a 6-1, 6-0 match win. Soloveychik in the No. 4 spot did away with Saul, going 6-2, 6-0. In a 6-3, 6-0 score at No. 5, Durkin came away with the win over Lizzie Frekko. Youngberg went 6-2, 6-4 over Anderson in the No. 2 singles matchup before Ferrante had the final point of the match at No. 1 with a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Friedman.

The Cardinals return to action on Saturday, April 13, when they host Williams at the John Wood Memorial Courts at 2 p.m.
