MIDDLETOWN, CT. – Coming off an award-winning season that has seen the Wesleyan Women's tennis team top the NESCAC and advance to the Elite 8 round of the NCAA National Tournament as they remain undefeated at 20-0,
Caitlyn Ferrante '24 and
Sarah Youngberg '26 will compete in the NCAA DIII Women's Individual Championships on behalf of Wesleyan beginning on May 25 in St. Louis, MO.
Ferrante, the 2024 NESCAC Player of the Year, and a first team All-NESCAC selection, will represent the Cardinals in singles play as selected by the NCAA. 32 individual singles players were selected with selection based on win-loss record, strength of schedule, and eligibility of the athletes. Ferrante, the lone senior for the Cardinals, went 13-4 this season in the No. 1 slot in the lineup.
With a 51-23 overall singles record, Ferrante ranks fifth all-time in the program in singles play. Ferrante's 107 career wins across singles and doubles play place her fifth all-time in career wins.
Youngberg will join her teammate and No. 1 doubles partner in the individual doubles tournament that will match them again 15 over doubles pairings with selection to the tournament following the same criteria as singles selection. Youngberg and Ferrante went 17-3 this season for the Cardinals, helping boost the Cardinals' domination this season and earned them a first team All-NESCAC doubles selection. Youngberg was also a first team All-NESCAC singles honoree.
The tournament will be held at the Dwight Davis Tennis Center in St. Louis, MO, hosted by Washington University.
