Despite the two losses, the Cardinals (16-20, 6-12 NESCAC) clinched a spot in the 2024 NESCAC Tournament and will face top-seeded Tufts on Friday in the Quarterfinal round in Medford.

The Cardinals fell victim to a gem thrown by Sadie Leonard in game one as the Ephs' ace pitcher allowed just one hit while striking out 11 in six innings of work.

Williams scored two runs in the 2nd inning and three more in the 3rd inning to take a 5-0 lead. Rebecca Cassel-Siskind '26 had the lone hit for the Cardinals in game one while Ella DeCrescenzo '27 threw 3.1 shutout innings in relief, allowing just two hits with no walks.

The Ephs plated five runs in the 2nd inning of game two and led 6-0 after three innings. Wesleyan scored for the first time on the day with a two-run 4th inning as Cat Palmer '26 doubled down the left field line to score Isabella Secaira-Cotto '25 from third. After Cassel-Siskind reached on a bunt single to lead the bases, Waverly Smart '27 drew a walk to score another. With the bases still loaded and one out, Williams induced a crucial inning-ending double play to escape further damage in the inning.

Williams then restored their six-run advantage with a two-run frame in the bottom of the 4th. The Ephs scored again in the 5th and put the game away with a sacrifice fly that made it 10-2, ending the game via mercy rule in the 6th.

Cassel-Siskind went 2-for-2 in game two, giving her three hits on the day. Palmer's double in the 4th was her sixth double of the season. Revi Brown '23 threw the 4th and 5th innings in relief, allowing one unearned run.

Wesleyan will make their eighth all-time appearance in the NESCAC Tournament next weekend, hosted at Tufts University.
