HARTFORD, CT. – The Wesleyan men's soccer team took a short jog up the road to Trinity College on Wednesday night, scoring five unanswered goals under the lights.
Joshwin Jennings '27 led the team with two goals in the first half from Trinity's soccer fields.
Leaving the Bantams (1-2-0 overall, 0-1-0 NESCAC) stripped of the ball early,
Yousuf Saeed '27 made contact before handing the ball over to Jennings down the near line and out to the penalty arch. Jennings sent the ball into the top ninety off his left foot. Â Jennings struck again for the Cardinals (2-0-1 overall, 1-0-0 NESCAC) with help from
Dylan Clack '27. Jennings landed the ball high in the goal for the second time as he shot from far above the middle of the box.
The Bantams closed the second half with a foul inside the box, awarding the Cardinals a penalty kick with a two-goal lead.
Zack Burd '25 got the call and stepped up, striking for the Cardinals a third time.
A throw in by Burd in the second half earned him the assist on a goal by Clack. Clack made contact with Burd's throw on a header shot as it soared over his head and over Bantams goalkeeper Felix Schmidt. The Bantams made quick work after Clack's goal, putting a ball behind
Mathis Blanc '26, but the officials waved the tally off.
Calder Truesdale '28 knocked back a goal 11 minutes to go in regulation, catching the ball on a deflection from
Mateo Neighbors '25 at the right post.
Blanc finished the evening with five saves for the Cardinals. Schmidt made contact with five shots for the Bantams.
The Cardinals return to action on Saturday, Sept. 14, when they head to Hamilton for a 2 p.m. NESCAC matchup.
