Cardinals Fall to No. 15 Endicott, 4-2

BEVERLY, MA. – Falling victim to three goals in the first period, the Wesleyan women's hockey team turned in a road loss to No. 15 Endicott College on Tuesday evening as the team was led by Aimee Seppenwolde '26 with two goals from Endicott's Raymond J. Bourque Arena.

While the Gulls (11-4-0 overall) ultimately came out on top with the final tally, it was Seppenwolde and the Cardinals (6-8-0 overall) that caught the scoring itch early. With just under six minutes of action underway in the second period, Seppenwolde gave the Cardinals a one-goal lead on a rebounded puck. Effie Tournas '25 kickstarted the play, gaining possession at the blue line before her initial drive. Tournas fired on Celia Dahl and the saved puck fell right onto the stick of Seppenwolde at the left post.

The Cardinals' lead would hold for another three minutes before the first of three goals scored by the Gulls would fall over the line behind Jenna Guglielmi '27. Maggie Holt scored the first Gulls goal and was followed by Avari Maxwell. With the Cardinals down a man on an interference call, the Gulls would score their third of the period on the power play from the efforts of Cammi Ahern.

Entering the second period down by two goals, Seppenwolde struck again to cut the Gulls' lead to just one goal. With just three minutes to go, Amelia Molin '27 found Sam DeLeo '25 at the blue line as the Cardinals were perched up with full presence in the Gulls' territory. DeLeo's line pass to Seppenwolde made contact and Seppenwolde wound up a heavy shot from the line that fell between Dahl's legs.

Samantha Fantasia and the Gulls would score their final goal of the evening a minute later while on the power play after a cross-checking minor was called on the Cardinals.

In goal, Guglielmi finished the evening with 32 saves. In the opposing net, Dahl earned the win with 15 saves.

The Cardinals return to action on Friday, Jan. 17, when they begin their weekend road series at Hamilton beginning at 7 p.m.
