BOSTON, MA. – The Wesleyan women's track and field made a dent in the Top 10 standings at the Track at New Balance on Sunday as they competed in the New England Small College Invite hosted by Middlebury College and finished the day with five Top 10 finishes highlighted by the distance medley relay team.
While competing in the early track events, the Cardinals saw two personal best times in the 800m race with two Top 10 finishes.
Elanora Smith '27 crossed the line in eighth place and saw a new career time of 2:20.22. Falling in behind Smith by two places,
Ellie Green '28 closed out in 10
th place and ran a final 2:21.53, a personal best as well.
Kicking off the meet,
Juliette Sullivan '27was the first top placement for the Cardinals in the 200m dash. Sullivan ran a 25.96 that was good for sixth place. Highlighting the long-distance races,
Margaret Stevens '27 was the top runner for the Cardinals in the 3000m. Stevens placed seventh as she crossed the finish line with a time of 10:27.84.
The highlight of the afternoon went to the distance medley relay team with a third-place finish. The Wesleyan "A" team, consisting of Smith, Sullivan,
Jordan Walter '25, and
Stella Loezos '27, combined for a final time of 12:38.24, the team's best time in the event all season.
On Saturday, Jan. 25, the Cardinals made a small showcase in their home indoor invite, led by
Eva Beauchamp '28. Beauchamp placed seventh in the 600m with a time of 1:56.37 before placing seventh in the 60m hurdles with a time of 11.11. In the high jump,
Kate DiTullio '28 placed ninth at 1.3m.
The Cardinals will take a break and return to action on Friday, Feb. 7, and Saturday, Feb. 8, when they travel to Tufts for the Cupid Challenge.
