MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – The Wesleyan men's swimming & diving team dropped a dual meet to Babson on Saturday by a score of 193.5-94.5 inside Morse Pool. The Cardinals fall to 0-5 in dual meets this winter while the Beavers improve to 5-2 on the season.
Wesleyan landed four wins in the 16 events held at Babson on the day, with
Harrison Hong '25 landing three of those victories. The senior standout Hong opened his day with a first place finish in the 100 fly (50.41 seconds) and later added a win in the 100 back (52.10) and secured his third victory with a time of 53.81 in the 100 IM.
The other first place finisher for the Cardinals was
Brody Schrepfer '28 who took first in the 500 free with his time of 4:53.12.
David Kantar '25 was a part of three runner-up performances as he took second place in the 50 back (26.48) and 100 free (51.34) while he combined with Schrepfer,
Collin Holson '25 and
Nathan Wu '28 on a second place result in the 400 free relay as the group combined for a time of 3:19.63.
Fritz Bretall '25 combined with Hong, Schrepfer, and Wu to finish in second place, just 0.32 seconds behind Babson's first place team, in the 200 medley as Wesleyan's group timed in at 1:37.74. Bretall later added a second place finish in the 50 back as he clocked in at 26.48.
Two other runner-up finishers on the day included
Hartmut Doerwaldt '25 who touched the wall in 10:47.30, taking second in the 1000 free. Wu competed in the 100 breast and finished runner-up with his time of 1:00.28.
Next up for Wesleyan is a home dual meet against Trinity on Wednesday, January 15 at 4 PM.
