SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Senior forward
Georgia Adams '26 scored both goals for the No. 8 ranked Wesleyan field hockey team in a 2-0 road win over Western New England on Wednesday night. Adams made some history with the two goals, reaching the career 100-point milestone, while the Cardinals (10-3) are winners of six straight games and the Golden Bears (10-7) lose for just the third time in 11 home games this year.

Adams makes history, joining an elite group of Cardinals as one of just three players in team history to reach the 100-point milestone. Following her two-goal performance against the Golden Bears, Adams has 44 career goals and 13 assists for 101 points. She is the first Cardinal in 30 years to record 100 points, joining Beth Shilepsky '95 and Barb Martin '80 as the only members of the club at Wesleyan.

The first quarter of play was all Wesleyan, with the Cardinals generating 13 shots and six penalty corners while holding WNE without a shot or corner in the entire quarter. Despite owning possession and scoring chances, the Cardinals couldn't put one past WNE goalie Alex Tardugno and the game remained scoreless.

Wesleyan finally broke through with Adams knocking in a rebound off a
Brooke Miner '28 shot that hit the left post. On what was the seventh penalty corner of the first half for the Cardinals, Adams inserted and Miner lined up a shot from just inside the circle. The shot beat Tardugno and clanged off the post, falling right to Adams' stick who was in the perfect spot for the rebound following the insert.

WNE had a couple chances late in the first half and early in the second half, with four penalty corners coming in short succession, but the Cardinals allowed just one shot to hit the target which
Audrey Pace '26 dealt with to keep Wesleyan out in front.

A crucial insurance marker came just over the midway point of the third quarter as
Meera Patel '29 tracked down a ball towards the end line before firing a quick pass across the face of goal that Adams dove at to score her second of the night.

Armed with a two-goal cushion, Wesleyan began to feel the pressure from WNE who had four more penalty corner opportunities within the first four minutes of the fourth quarter. Pace made saves on two shots in that sequence while the Golden Bears looked like they had put one home, but a foul call canceled out the marker.

Caroline Chung '28 relieved Pace in the 55
th minute of play and the Cardinals closed out the 2-0 shutout win. This marks the sixth shutout of the year for Wesleyan, tied for the second-highest single-season total in team history and just one shy of the all-time single-season record set in 1997.

Adams' two-goal night is her second straight game with two scores and the 11
th multi-goal game of her career. Miner and Patel each dished out their fifth assists of the season, tied for the team-lead with
Emily Smith '29.

Wesleyan heads back out on the road for a Saturday morning showdown at Colby that begins at 11 AM.
