WATERVILLE, ME. – With a free kick goal in the first half to take the lead, the Wesleyan women's soccer team picked up a 1-0 NESCAC road win over Colby College on Saturday afternoon at Mark Serdjenian Field, all thanks to sophomore defender
Sheridan Snow '28.
While the Mules held the offensive edge over the Cardinals (8-3-3 overall, 3-3-3 NESCAC) with a 34-11 overall shot margin, it was the Cardinals that walked away with the much-needed win.
Following three corner kicks in a row by the Mules (8-3-3 overall, 4-3-2 NESCAC) as senior goalkeeper
Molly Brumbach '26 came up with every save, the Cardinals were awarded a free kick from out above the box on the far near side. Taking the shot, Snow fired with her right foot while the ball landed in the left corner, just barely grazing the tips of MK Marshall's gloves as she dove for the save.
The Cardinals defense held strong for the remainder of the game, keeping all 20 of the Mules' second half shots out of the net.
Abigail Jarvi and Avery Barton led the Mules' offensive attack, Jarvi posting seven shots while Barton finished with six.
Brumbach earns the win with eight saves as Marshall finished the match with three saves.
The Cardinals return to action on Tuesday, Oct. 28, in the final regular season game as they host Conn. at 5 p.m.
