BETHLEHAM, Pa. - Facing an ocean of runners settled and ready in the Lehigh Valley, the Wesleyan men's cross country team made the trip to the Paul Short Invitational, hosted by Lehigh University, and came home with a Top 10 team performance as
Liam Calhoun '26 cracked the Top 20 in the men's 8K White race.
HIGHTLIGHTS:
- The Cardinals placed runners in two of the five races that ran on Saturday. Placing ninth out of 45 institutions in the 8K White race, three Cardinals placed in the Top 50.
- Liam Calhoun led the charge, continuing his surge of success in his senior season. Placing 12th out of 407 runners, Calhoun ran a 24:40.4 and bested his previous 8K record by 23 seconds.
- Placing 32nd, Noah Mahoney '27 crossed the finish line at 25:08.5. Four runners back, Dylan Cote '28 ran a 25:10.7 and placed 36th.
- Competing in the men's 8k Open event, the Cardinals placed 24th of 48 teams as Calder Burke '27 and Alex Blumen '29 cracked the Top 200.
- Finishing at 26:01.6, Burke placed 179th out of 574 runners. Blumen, at 191, clocked in at 26:06.9 to close out.
The Cardinals will get the next two weeks to prepare for the Conn. College Invite on Saturday, Oct. 18, with action beginning at 10 a.m. in Waterford, CT.
