MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – Wesleyan volleyball sophomore outside hitter
Siena Steines '28 was named the NESCAC Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon. This is the first weekly award in Steines' career while she becomes the third Cardinal to earn the NESCAC POW this season, joining
Sophia Lindus '26 and
Elliana Moreno '27.
In Saturday's four-set win over Bates in the NESCAC Quarterfinals, Steines totaled 17 kills on 44 attempts with 17 digs and three total blocks. Steines hit .273 in the match and had six kills in the fourth set alone, which the Cardinals won 25-11 to clinch the win and a spot in the NESCAC Semifinals for the eighth consecutive season.
Wesleyan (20-2) will host the remaining rounds of the NESCAC Tournament on November 14 and 15 in Silloway Gymnasium. The top-seed Cardinals square off against the four-seed Tufts on Friday at 5:00 PM.
