NEW LONDON, CT. – Led by
Dylan Green '26 with a power-play goal on the record, the Wesleyan women's hockey team fell in NESCAC action on Friday night, 4-1, to Connecticut College while on the road from Conn.'s Dayton Arena.
The Cardinals' (7-12-0 overall, 2-9-0 NESCAC) power play units were put to the test throughout the second period as the Cardinals were awarded with six minutes worth of action with an extra attacker. While unable to capitalize on the first two calls against the Camels (7-9-1 overall, 3-7-1 NESCAC), the third power play was indeed the lucky one. With the Camels down once again on a slashing minor,
Dylan Green answered the call. Stuffing the puck over the line with the help of
Amelia Molin '27 and
Christina Tournas '25, Green freed the Cardinals from the possibility of a road shutout.
Prior to Green's goal as the Cardinals entered the second intermission, the Camels put away four goals behind Cardinals' goaltender
Jenna Guglielmi '27. Serena Seiple and Lily Stern scored back-to-back goals in the opening minutes of the game to give the Camels a two-goal lead. In much of the same manner, Ashely Engle and Alana Burm opened the middle period with two more goals and led the Cardinals by four.
Aimee Seppenwolde '26 led all Cardinals with five shots on goal, followed by Green with four.
In goal, Guglielmi finished the evening with 25 saves. Devon Galizio made 31 saves and earned the win.
The Cardinals return to action on Saturday, Feb. 1, for the second game of their road series with the Camels beginning at 3 p.m.
