BOSTON, MA. – It was a weekend of competition for the Wesleyan women's track and field team as Wesleyan split up in Massachusetts for the Boston University Valentine Invitational on Friday and the Tufts Stampede Invitational on Saturday that was highlighted by
Juliette Sullivan's '27 Top 20 finish in Boston.
Competing against some of the best runners on the East Coast, Sullivan was the highlight for the Cardinals on Friday as she ran a career-best time in the 200m dash. Crossing the finish line with a final time of 25.52, Sullivan placed 20
th out of 100 finalists in the event. Sullivan's performance is nearly a second behind Grace Devenney's '23 school record (24.42) set in 2023.
10 minutes up the road in Medford, MA., several more Cardinals were toughing out more Division III competition at Tufts on Saturday with personal-best times to boast about.
Alexandra Weingard '28 led all Cardinals with a Top 5 finish as she placed fourth in the women's 3000m, running a clocked 10:32.93. Four spots behind,
Maggie Smith '27 finished in eighth place, running a 10:45.23 personal-best final.
In the women's mile,
Sofia Magnera '28 placed seventh with a new best time of 5:20.60.
Sophia Mack '26 finished at 1:03.88 in the 400m and placed 10
th.
The Cardinals will take the week to recover and return to action on Saturday, Feb. 22, for the Springfield Triangle Invitational beginning at 10:30 a.m.
