HARTFORD, CT. – Unable to gain much traction after a three-goal deficit in the first period, the Wesleyan men's hockey team fell in NESCAC action to No. 14 Trinity College on Friday night in a 5-0 shutout on the road at Trinity's Koeppel Community Center.
Marking their third shutout of the season, the Cardinals (6-14-3 overall, 5-11-1 NESCAC) began the game in a three-goal hole as the Bantams (15-6-2 overall, 11-4-2 NESCAC) were able to tally three even-strength goals prior to the one-minute warning. Ryan Panico opened the scoring and was joined by Aidan D'Urso and Theo Griffin. The first goal was the result of a possession change following a Cardinals power play, but D'Urso's goal fell after a string of seven shots in a row by the Bantams.
Cardinals' goaltender
Patrick McDevitt '28 held on through the second period, stopping all 11 of the Bantams scoring chances while the offense posted nine, two of which fell off the stick of
Owen Sweet '25.
D'Urso, however, was not done. D'Uro's second goal of the game came late in the third period and was followed near immediately by Ty Broad with the fifth goal of the night.
From the faceoff circle,
Danny Judge '26 led all Cardinals with 10 draw wins as
Nolan Roche '27 and
Connor Sutherland '27 led the offense with three shots on goal.
McDevitt's night came to an end with 34 saves on the score sheet. Devon Bobak earned the win making 26 saves.
The Cardinals return home for the regular season finale, hosting Trinity once again in a 3 p.m. NESCAC matchup on Senior Day.
