SPRINGFIELD, MA. – Highlighting a cold afternoon at the Triangle Invitational, hosted by Springfield College,
Javier Orellana '25 thew a new school record for the Wesleyan men's track and field team in the men's indoor shot put, taking first place as he led 11, Top 10 finishes.
Throwing for a new school record of 15.23m in the men's indoor shot put, Orellana broke his own record set less than a month ago at the NYC Gotham Cup, besting his 15.03m. Orellana took first place as he led the men's team in the field events.
Rami Hayes-Messinger '26 placed sixth with a new person-best distance of 13.83m.
The Cardinals dominated the weight throw as
Will Dollhopf '25 placed second and threw a new personal-best distance at 16.46m. The Wesleyan indoor record is 16.48m.
Elias Warner placed eighth, throwing for 14.87m while Hayes-Messinger took ninth at 14.80m and
James Giokaris '24 placed 10
th with 14.61m.
Reaching a distance of 12.58m,
Daniel Bench '27 placed ninth in the men's triple jump.
Running a personal best time of 9:02.87 in the 3000m,
Coleman Love '28 crossed the finish line in seventh place.
The 800m saw three Cardinals crush the Top 10, headed by
Ben Taffet '26. Taffet ran for 2:05.05 and placed fifth as
Alex Lara '27 closed just behind him in sixth, clocking in at 2:06.13. Closing out the race,
Daniel Manning '28 placed eighth and finished with a time of 2:09.49.
The Cardinals return to action on Friday, Feb. 28, and Saturday, March 1, at the New England Division III Championships in Boston.
